Meet Joel Regis

Certified Personal Trainer and Rehab Specialist

Joel made the plunge into the fitness industry like many lifelong athletes and advocates of health and fitness do; by becoming a personal trainer and fitness manager for a commercial gym. Joel has always been eager to help others reach their health goals including sharing knowledge, so that individuals can better understand and continue their own fitness journeys. He enthusiastically took on many clients, while successfully on-boarded and managed a group of personal trainers. This culminated into an impressive revenue for the training departments. However he took note of a growing demand among many of the gym goers that changed his career path. Many of the people who visited the gym were not athletes, and in fact had never step foot in a gym. Many were your everyday working middle-class who had suffered a work related injury, or had had a major surgery. Some could afford physical therapy, while others could unfortunately not. Both groups of people had been advised by health professionals to join a gym and continue to do exercises to restrengthen the trauma they had sustained. Joel noticed that most of these people were too scared to even speak with a trainer, while others stuck to their comfort zones never progressing. 

 

If any of you have ever had an injury or surgery, you know how hard it is to get back to ground zero. But what does one do after they get to that point? What exercises do you do after therapy? How do you program rehabilitating an injury? How do you make sure you reduce the risk of being re-injured? How do you overcome fear? Stay motivated? How can anyone figure out how to progress? 

In order to provide a stress and fear free environment to help this niche of people, Joel decided to resign from his position at the gym and start his own company. He provides a nurturing and knowledgeable one on one atmosphere to clients, whether it be in his home gym office or in the comfort of their own homes. It is here that Joel can provide his undivided attention and an individualized strength training and pain management program. He has had the pleasure of working with rehab clients and athletes alike. From stroke survivors, post-surgery rehab, dramatic weight loss, to professional equestrians and amateur athletes; Joel’s clients are diverse and come from all walks of life. He brings a unique approach to developing a progressive program, by incorporating many locomotive, mobility, resistance, cardio, balance, and recruitment exercises. His own passion for his own health, fitness, and the outdoors makes Joel a fun and inviting trainer to work with. Giving you a quiet no pressure environment, supportive community, enhancing your quality of life, through a thoughtful training and pain management program, is our mission at JR Personal Training.
